How to get to 100 LinkedIn connections.

How to get your first 100 connections on LinkedIn and who should you be connecting with?

Deciding who you should be connecting with can be quite difficult at first. But it doesn’t have to be. In this blog post I will be sharing the do’s and do not’s of connecting on LinkedIn.

There isn’t really anyone that you can't connect with, however, you don’t want it to be quiet random so we’ll go over it anyway! The following is for people who are just starting out on LinkedIn and want some easy first connections. These will take you to your first 200 connections on LinkedIn.

Friends and Family:

The first and easiest people to connect with are friends and family. They are the ones that are (in most cases) going to like your posts no matter what!

People you have worked with:

Search up your current and/or past workplace and then navigate to People to see who works there. Then connect with whoever you like! BUT, remember how you connect is also important so before you click that button check out my guide on connecting with people!

People from your place of study:

I love connecting with people from my university. When I see University of Strathclyde pop up I always at least check out the persons profile and often will connect! Most people on LinkedIn are very similar to me in that they’ll generally accept a connection from someone from their place of study.

People you meet:

If you meeting someone –at say a networking event- then feel free to connect with them! Just remember to let them know who you are!

For this section, it might be a good idea to ask them first in person (if you don’t do this don’t worry). What I have done in the past is I have taken my phone out while the person is there and connected in front of them!
